Our Greyhound Gracie in Her Full Winter Attire.

December 31, 2007

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, greyhounds have only 3% body fat and sensitive skin a little on the thin side. Her first exposure to the snow, unfortunately, was not ideal as there was a layer of ice beneath the inches of light fluffy stuff. Unbeknownst to me, this stoic, sweet, Florida born dog was braving the outside with abrasions to her paws from the ice layer. Once that was discovered, the “chic” boots were immediately ordered by N. Yes, even he approved of the goofy attire, now a necessity. Gracie adjusted to them immediately and her paws have healed.

She’s still not totally sure of the snow; alternating between leaping about (minus booties now the hard ice seems to have disappeared) and pulling me on her leash toward the house, eager for the comfort of the hearth.

And from the comfort of the hearth, I would like to wish everyone a warm, healthy, happy and peaceful New Year!
