Sometimes, Just Sometimes, The Emperor Is Naked.

April 6, 2008

Love being able to sneak a peak at art shows I’m not able to attend; also enjoy looking at new and exciting work. Unfortunately, for me, this seems to be lacking in the work shown in the first video.

This from James Kalm who made these two videos: “This event kicks off a weekend of frantic art viewing. Though not as large as Basil Miami, but with over 160 international gallerieis represented, this is New York’s premier fair. Highlights include glances of work by Mary Heilman, Gilbert and George, Thomas Hirschhorn, Richard DuPont and many of today’s hottest talents.”

In the second video Lucas Samaras, Alex katz and George Baselitz are old standbys I usually enjoy, and there were a few (unknown to me) German painters I found quite interesting.

Here there are peeks of work by Jonathan Meese, Keith Mayerson, Gilbert and George, Rodney Graham Terry Winters Berry McGee and others. Not only was the art viewing good, but the characters attending the event were just as interesting. (James Kalm)
