(Oh, Please Don’t) Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.

Guess if there’s snow in Las Vegas (shown falling on the Luxor Hotel), I shouldn’t complain. It’s here in western Washington too. And we thought moving from the Midwest would get us away from frigid, snowy weather. Ha!

In this photo provided by the Las Vegas News Bureau, snow covers ...

We’re house bound as there are no snow plows on the island and no salt spreading trucks (which is good as that would be bad for the Puget Sound), but sand could help – none of that either – and we brought no snow shovels with us. Deliberately left them behind, “No need for those anymore,” we said. We now live at the end of a steep, shared driveway, so we’re stuck at the bottom.

We might be stuck here for days. And across the Sound, all five of Seattle’s snow ploughs are in use, so they can’t help us by lending us one or two. Back in the Midwest, I think our neighborhood had five ploughs. Not that I want to go back.

It’s very pretty though, although I doubt if greyhound Gracie quite appreciates the aesthetics of it;  she “thought” she was done with frigid feet and her winter coat. As did we.

So it’s a good day to play in the kitchen, something I hardly ever have the desire to do. But as we have a party to go to tomorrow night, I’m going to do some baking. And if we can’t get out of our driveway then, well, N and I will have batches of sweet goodies to keep us warm.

Or perhaps like some of the neighborhood kids who are taking full advantage of the snowy streets, we could go out and play.
