Australia exhibits Mueck’s life-like sculptures

The National Gallery of Victoria has held an exhibition of life-like creations by renowned sculptor Ron Mueck in Australia.

The largest Mueck exhibition ever held in the country, the event displays twelve sculptures by the 52-year-old artist from Jan. 22 until Apr. 18 2010, Artdaily reported.

“Since his dramatic entry onto the international art stage, Mueck has continued to astound audiences with his realistic, figurative sculptures and now occupies a unique and important place in the field of international contemporary art,” the museum’s Deputy Director Frances Lindsay said.

The exhibition has gathered Mueck works from Australian and international collections. It also includes four new works created specifically for this exhibition that were previously unveiled in Melbourne.
