Neal Jenney New Work, Old Work at BARBARA MATHES GALLERY

October 27, 2010

James Kalm has been a fan of Neal Jenney for decades. Due to heavy downpours, he parked his bike and trained it to the Upper East Side for this opening. Coming to prominence with his inclusion in Marcia Tucker’s groundbreaking New Museum exhibition “Bad Painting” in 1978, Jenney has clung to his enigmatic uniqueness and independence eschewing greater recognition and commercial success. Presented are examples of classic “Bad Paintings” and the current work which has evolved into a old masterly rendition of nature. The interview took place at Neal’s opening of “New Work/Old Work” at the Barbara Mathes Gallery October 14, 2010
